GROWING STAFF
We Have Grown
The Dallas County Public Safety Building was constructed in 1988. It was built to house several departments within the Sheriff’s Office (dispatch, civil, patrol, administration) and Dallas County inmates charged with criminal offenses outlined in the Iowa Code. At that time, the jail was permitted to hold 31 inmates and the Sheriff’s office had approximately 30 employees working at the facility. Nine of these employees worked in the jail.
Today, there are 71 full and part-time employees and eight reserves. Of these employees, 27 work in the jail.

Impact
With this growth, County employees are working in cramped, outdated work environments. This has resulted in increased operation costs and inefficiencies.
