Dallas County transfers inmates to other county facilities at the following daily rates:  

​

• Story County $55/per inmate (most frequently used)

• Guthrie County $50/per inmate

• Boone County $50/per inmate  

 

These rates only cover housing and food. Transportation, labor, and medical costs are not included.

Impact

In addition to cost, staff and resources are utilized for transferring inmates which reduces their time spent patrolling and protecting.
